Shawn answered my call right away after I found my house trashed by tenants who left loads of furniture and garbage throughout the house and yard after moving out. I loaded everything on the curb, called Shawn mid-day on my move-in day, and everything was gone under 24 hours later, thanks to his team. Communicative, efficient, and fair price for the dirty and physically challenging task. Highly recommend!
We were very pleased with Shawn and Andrew on the disposal of our hot tub. It was a challenging task as the space was narrow, steep and very large steps made of rocks. They were very professional and friendly. They came on time and left our back yard in perfect condition. We would highly recommend them.

These guys are outstanding. We were in a bit of a time crunch when I came across the Junk Matters site via google. Shawn (owner) was very helpful and quick to respond. Despite already booked that day, Shawn offered several solutions as well as different days that he could provide service, and even after we booked the next available appointment, Shawn found out that he could get us in the same day and quickly made that happen. We will definitely be using Junk Matters in the future.

We look for opportunities to reuse, donate and recycle before disposal. Usable items can find a second home, recyclable materials are separated where practical, and the landfill is reserved for what can't reasonably be diverted.

Junk Matters provides fast, affordable junk removal across Nanaimo and Central Vancouver Island for both residential and commercial clients. We specialise in clearing out unwanted items, from mattresses and furniture to hot tubs, construction debris and hoarder homes, quickly and professionally.
The minimum pickup is $125, a quarter of the 15-yard trailer is $300, a half is $500, three quarters is $675 and a full load is $850. The load price covers the lifting, hauling, disposal fees, taxes and the first hour of labour. You get a free estimate before anything gets loaded, and the final charge reflects the volume and material actually loaded. Additions can apply for weight, specialty items, access or travel.
As soon as we have availability. Timing depends on the day, the location and the size of the job, so call or send photos and ask us what is open. We are open 7 days, 6am to 8pm.
Almost everything two people can lift: furniture, appliances, mattresses, electronics, hot tubs, pianos, yard waste, renovation debris and general household junk. The A to Z page lists it all, and if yours is not on it, ask anyway.
Donation and recycling first, landfill last. Usable furniture and goods go to local charities, metals and electronics go to recyclers, green waste gets composted, and only what genuinely has no other home goes to the tip.
Not necessarily. If the items are accessible, a driveway pile, a carport, an open garage, and the estimate is agreed by phone or text beforehand, we can do the whole job while you are at work and send a photo of the cleared space after.
