Junk MattersYou Matter - We Matter - Junk MattersWhat we collect when you ask us for an estimate, why we collect it, who it is shared with, and how to have it removed.
Junk Matters (“we,” “us,” “our”) is a junk removal business operating in Nanaimo and across Central Vancouver Island. This policy explains how we handle personal information collected through this website, junkmatters.ca.
We follow British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
Information you send us. When you request an estimate or contact us, we collect your name, email address, phone number, the service address or area for the job, and anything you write in the message.
Photos you upload. Our estimate form lets you attach photos so we can price the job without a site visit. Those images often show the inside or outside of your property. We treat them as personal information and use them only to prepare and carry out your estimate.
Basic technical information. Like any website, our hosting provider records standard request data such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested. This is used for security, abuse prevention and keeping the site running.
We do not collect payment details on this website. Payment is arranged directly with you at the time of the job.
We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell, rent or trade it to anyone.
We use a small number of service providers to run the site and deliver your messages to us. They process information on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes:
We may also disclose information if we are required to by law, or where it is necessary to establish or defend a legal claim.
We keep enquiry and job records for as long as we need them for the work and for normal business and tax record-keeping. Photos attached to an estimate are kept only as long as they are useful for quoting and completing the job, and are deleted on request.
You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask for a correction if it is wrong, or ask us to delete it. We will respond within the time frame set by PIPA. Contact us at junkmattersbc@gmail.com or (250) 802-6683.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia.
The site is served over HTTPS, and uploads and form submissions are transmitted encrypted. No system is perfectly secure, but we limit who can access enquiry information to the people who need it to do the work.
This site uses only the cookies it needs to function, and does not run advertising or cross-site tracking. See our Cookie Policy for details.
This site is intended for adults arranging junk removal services. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
If we change how we handle personal information, we will update this page and the date shown above.
